To dig deeper into the underlying cause of a mood issue, I frequently use testing to help uncover the possible reason for depression or anxiety symptoms.  As this diagram shows below, a mood disorder could be the final diagnosis, but there could be many underlying imbalances that contribute to it.

Potential contributors include: sleep disorders, toxic chemical or mold exposure, poor digestion, food allergies/ sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies, immune reactions, hormone levels, oxidative stress, inflammation, and the psychological and spiritual state of the patient.
